Carol Silva is the veteran Emmy Award winning anchor from News 12 Long Island, America’s first 24-hour regional news network. She is a host, a TEDx speaker, a motivational speaker and a 4-time cancer survivor. For over four decades Carol covered Popes, Presidential elections, State and Congressional hearings, and stories from viewers’ workplaces, schoolyards, and kitchen tables. She shared life from the News 12 anchor desk and on special assignment from Ground Zero, Albany, New Orleans, Texas and Washington. Carol’s three Emmys are among her more than 50 journalism awards. She has been honored as a member of the prestigious Emmy Awards’ NY Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences Silver Circle. She’s been named to the Long Island Journalism Hall of Fame and is a New York State “Woman of Distinction.” Carol’s SPEAK talk focuses on her connection between faith, attitude and life. A Mexican American, a wife, a Mom, a sister and a best friend, Carol frequently speaks about motivation, student challenges, working women, finding your power and coming back from defeat.
