Dr. Dale Coffin Astar

SPEAK: Neurodiversity

Dr. Dale A. Coffin is an Occupational Therapist, since 1993, and completed her studies in Occupational Therapy and received her Doctorate degree in Higher Education & Leadership. Her area of specialty is in Pediatrics (Early Intervention/Pre-School) and Sensory Integration. Dr. Coffin began working at Stony Brook University as the Chairperson in 2021 and previously taught in Higher Education institutions. Dale has published research studies on Service Learning, the use of the Virtual Gaming with Pre-School populations and therapeutic intervention with Head-Start programs. She conducts Service-Learning Trips & Virtual Telehealth sessions to Belize, in conjunction with The Inspiration Center. Through her supervision, hundreds of children are serviced each year with needed therapy, equipment and plans of care. She is a mom of 3, and has a 25 year old son on the spectrum. Dr. Coffin is also the secretary of the The Nicholas Center board.
